About Tania Mackie

Tania Mackie is a contemporary artist based in the coastal village of Cromarty on the Black Isle in the Scottish Highlands. Her work is deeply inspired by the colours, light, and beauty of Scotland's landscapes. As a sea kayaker and adventurer, she captures the dynamic light and wide open skies in her sketches and paintings. Her background as an archaeological illustrator informs her intricate style, characterised by lines, layers, and shapes. Tania finds mindfulness and joy in her art, aiming to share the movement of nature with others. She embraces the principle that colour and form can evoke deep emotional responses, striving to create works that resonate with viewers on a personal and visceral level.

Tania's artistic practice includes oil paintings, watercolours, and mixed media, often reflecting the ever-changing sea, mountains, and landscapes of Scotland. Plein Air sketches help her create her final works in the studio and Tania is often found balanced on a rock or perched on the side of a hill painting in all weathers.

She is known for her engaging art exhibitions that showcase her unique perspective and artistic style. Her works often explore themes of nature, emotion, and the human experience, reflecting a deep connection to her surroundings. In addition to her exhibitions, Tania offers workshops from her studio in Cromarty, providing opportunities for individuals to explore their creativity through group sessions or one-to-one guidance. These workshops are designed to cater to all skill levels, encouraging participants to develop their artistic abilities while enjoying a supportive and inspiring environment.
