Angela Moffat
Paintings
Angela Moffat, a self-taught landscape artist from Edinburgh, rediscovered her passion for painting five years ago. Initially, she pursued a career in fashion design, studying at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design (1987–1990) following a Foundation Course at Norwich School of Art (1986–1987). Although she chose fashion as a “safer” path, Angela always knew she would eventually return to painting.
Her painting style combines realism with impressionism, influenced by French Impressionists and British artists like Edward Seago and Ken Howard. Through a thoughtful play of light and colour, Angela captures the unique atmosphere and mood of each subject. In her series on Edinburgh, she highlights both the historic, shadowed aspects of the city through rich tonal colours and its vibrant energy with brighter hues.
Alongside painting, Angela continues to work as a stylist on advertising campaigns and as the founder of Paterior Design, creating distinctive outdoor living spaces for homeowners.
